About the Author, JoLynn Braley:

I am passionate about achieving and maintaining optimum health. After struggling with weight and food issues for most of my life, I am intent on mastering these issues now, while at the same time, passing on to others the information and experiences I have gained.
Here at The Fit Shack, I write about such topics as today’s processed and fast food industry, food addiction, sugar, emotional eating, and the mind/body connection. I don’t believe in quick fixes but do believe in getting to the core of what motivates you to overeat and then solving/healing those issues.
I’m not a doctor, therapist, or fitness trainer but instead am someone who is a student of life who loves to do research and learn more about the processed food industry, which motivates me to stay away from it. I don’t mind sharing my experiences and what I learn because I believe that the processed food industry is a major cause in the rise in obesity in America and much of the world.
Currently I am approximately 30 pounds overweight. In 2004 I lost 43.5 pounds by following the Six Week Body Makeover which is a lifestyle plan that includes eating whole, healthy foods and getting regular exercise. I kept the weight off for over a year until I made the mistake of going back to old habits. My goal is to get back to 125 pounds, however what is more important is that I stay off of the refined sugar, flour, excess sodium, dairy, and unhealthy fats. I will reach my goal weight through the conscious means of healthy eating, non-starvation, cardio, and sculpting/toning exercise.
Reaching my goal weight is not the end product however, because I want to keep the weight off by continuing to live a healthy lifestyle. My intention for this site is to serve as inspiration and provide information for the millions of people on Earth who are currently dealing with the issues of food, weight, health, and fitness, while being constantly tempted by great tasting processed foods. This site if for those who want to make changes in their life that will last, rather than seeking a quick fix.
May you live and prosper in health, harmony, and abundance.
