[...] Week Nine introduces you to learning about your Safety-Seeking self, that part of yourself that sabotages you and keep you overweight because that’s where you’re comfortable - being overweight. The problem is that you don’t want to be overweight (hey, isn’t that the reason you’d want to do the Shrink Yourself program? lol, of course it is! ), so Shrink Yourself teaches you how to soothe your Safety-Seeking self.
@Mark, I've had times of looking at food as fuel, too, and it's worked for me, but still have had the side that wants to emotionally eat. You might not be an emotional eater though, which is really good so that you don't need to go through this. ;)

@FB, right, the Shrink Yourself program teaches you to regain your personal power instead of looking for food to solve your feelings (which it can't).

@Chris, I think you might have read <a href="http://www.thefitshack.com/2008/05/02/fit-links-and-more-at-the-fit-shack/ rel="nofollow">my post on May 02</a> where I blogged about starting a detox? And I don't know about mixing Xylitol w/Stevia - Xylitol is a sugar alcohol and sugar alcohols trigger my sugar addiction, and you're right that it can cause intestinal issues if you use too much. I'd recommend plain Stevia instead, especially if you're addicted to sugar like me.

I think it's a good idea to do a detox to get rid of the bad left-over affects of Splenda. You may start to experience some weird sensations as the toxins are being flushed from your body, but keep it up, as you will feel better when it's all done. And if you really need to have something sweet, a good and safe product I've been using is a mixture of xylitol and stevia, which have been used for decades with no harmful affects like aspartame and splenda have. Xylitol by itself is fine unless you use a large quantity which can cause some diarrhea. By combining the 2 you get a great tasting sweetener - they are both plant-based and there's no chemical processing involved. Good luck in your weight loss and detox!

This is a great post!

But I think that we are the only ones that can stop ourselves from emotional eating.

But I'll try the program anyways.

Mark of a good regiment is to be mentally and emotionally prepared for ups and downs.I tend to have more success with food if I look at it as fuels vs. a pleasure. It definitely challenges me to keep focussed and to remember that the process is to be tackled "one day at a time".
