JoLynn - this is bad news. There was no way I would eat cloned meat and I would be annoyed if I'd eaten it unwittingly because the package was not marked "cloned meat".

I'm against cloning to begin with, as it is unethical and I worry about where it will end.

Also, I think it's far to early for anyone to claim that eating cloned meat is not dangerous. Who knows what the consequences will be a few years down the line.

Thanks for making me aware of this issue.

Hi everyone, thank you for leaving your comments on where you stand re: cloned meat. :)

@Dee, that's what I think, too, that it should at least be labeled as coming from clones.

@Mike, I've talked to another man who isn't concerned about it either, thank you for sharing your thoughts on it.

I think you're probably right that the first generation clones wouldn't be on the market, but I'm not convinced that it's safe to eat....I wonder about the info (linked in my article) about the genes of the clones being "off". It just makes me wonder...

The thing is though, that there could already be cloned meat in the stores, and we don't know because it isn't labeled.

@Frankie, same here, I just want to have a choice about what I'm buying!

Io I will not eat it. If i'ts so safe why not it as cloned meat. I have a problem with not being given a choice.

I don't have a problem with it. I don't care if it's labeled or not. If it's labeled as possibly from cloned animals, it wouldn't make a difference to me. Because there is no difference between a clone and the animal that it was cloned from. That's the whole idea. If anything, it might even be healthier than some of the critters that are slaughtered for the market today, because they aren't going to make clones of inferior animals. As well, I seriously doubt that you'll see meat directly from clones on the market. The animals that it makes sense to clone are the very expensive breeder animals. What will end up in the supermarket is the offspring of these animals, at least for the first few years.

To me, eating cloned meat just doesn't seem right. I would not want to eat it, nor feed it to my family until it has been around 30 years to prove that it is not harmful.

And I agree with you, if it is for sale, it at the very least should be marked as so. How can you possibly make the best personal choice otherwise.
