Confessions Of Sugar Addiction In The Blogsphere

I’ve mentioned in previous posts and also in replying to comments from you smart readers of The Fit Shack that you (and I!) aren’t alone when it comes to sugar addiction. In fact, there are more and more people who are recognizing that they are addicted to sugar, and are even blogging about it.

I’ve put together a few links for you to check out this weekend to help you see that you’re not the only one there that is addicted to sugar. The posts I’ve linked to are by other people just like you and me that realize that they are sugar addicts. Check them out and see if you can relate to their experience:

  • Terra admits she is a sugar addict and has tried over and over to get off of it. She’s not giving up though, and is still striving to live sugar free. I don’t see an update on her progress yet; I hope she’s doing well with it.
  • Mark went into sugar mania when he scooped some jam off of his girlfriend’s bagel and ate it on his own bagel. He wrote that after that first bite, “I had to have more”. Boy, can I ever relate to that, one is never enough!
  • In Stephanie’s weekly weigh-in she mentioned that she suffers from sugar addiction (see the “food” section of her post). She also shares that her sugar cravings are worse at night, something that I can really relate to.
  • Here’s a blog that is completely dedicated to the topic of sugar addiction, the Sugar Shock! Blog. Yesterday the author Connie (who also authored Sugar Shock!, which gives you tips on how to kick your sugar habit) asked the question, “Sugar Addiction? Do You Think It Exists?” She invites you to leave a comment and share how you are overcoming temptation this holiday season.

Permanent Weight Loss

  • To round out this list, here’s an excellent example of what getting off of sugar can get you if you have some weight to lose. In this comment on my post What Is Stevia – Is It Healthy and Safe To Use?, Jan didn’t use the term “sugar addiction”, but she may as well have because she shared that in the past she was out of control with her eating and was consuming sugar by the gallon in her iced tea. However, by getting off sugar and flour she dropped 108 pounds! She stated in her comment that, “it’s sugar that is toxic, not Stevia”, which I agree with.

Be sure to check out her blog and her before and after photos in her sidebar that clearly show you just how much she’s accomplished by getting off sugar!

I hope that these confessions of out-of-control eating, nighttime sugar cravings, sugar mania, and all out sugar addiction help you see that you’re not alone in being addicted to sugar. And, in case you’re new here and this is the first post you’ve read at The Fit Shack, I’m JoLynn, and I’m a sugar addict, too.

Here’s to getting off the sugar and living in peace without sugar cravings. I know it’s possible because I’ve kicked sugar before several times. The trick is to stay off of it. ;)

Well I haven’t really blogged about it, but I have personally kicked the sugar habit and feel a million times better for it. Nice collection of articles!

  2. Hi Peter!

Thanks, I love hearing about other people out there who have gone sugar free in their lives…..I understand what you mean about feeling so much better also. I’ve had the same experience before.
