To Lose Weight, Keep On Loving Yourself!
Here we are at Day 31 of Loving Yourself Thin. If you’ve completed each of the previous exercises in the series, I can imagine how much better you are feeling about yourself today than you did when you started on Day One. I mentioned that I would be doing each of these exercises along with you (which I have!), and I have also experienced a very positive shift (more on that in my next post).
So does this mean that you’re “all done”, that your self-love meter is topped off, and that you never need to do another positive affirmation or mirror session ever again? Nope, these exercises are only a beginning to get you started on loving your self just a little bit more each day.
If you have the goal of gaining motivation to lose weight, improve your health, and get fit, by loving and accepting yourself as you are right now in this moment, you truly can begin to feel that natural motivation to take care of yourself and your health. Look at how you already care for all that you currently love in your life; why should it be any different when you truly love yourself?
Now one thing to note as you continue on with your positive affirmations is that things can sometimes get worse before they get better. Don’t let this deter you. It’s just because your positive affirmations will uncover the negative, but that’s actually a good thing! If you don’t stir up the negative thoughts and beliefs that you aren’t consciously thinking, they will continue to sabotage you. However, the more you press on with your positive affirmations, the more those negatives will be cleared out. A positive thought to remember if you experience this is, “whatever is coming up is on its way out”.
To fit with summing up the series, here is today’s exercise: go to the mirror, look yourself in the eyes, and repeat 10 times, “I am willing to love myself just a little bit more each day. I am willing to treat my body with increasing care and respect the more I love it each day.” Before the end of the day, get out your journal or notebook and write these affirmations 10 times. Note any negative thoughts that come up from doing this.
From this point on, you can either go back to the beginning and do the series again, or you can continue on with your own journaling, turning your negative thoughts and beliefs that you uncover into positive affirmations. You can also use the books that I’ve recommended throughout the series (below) to continue increasing your love and respect for your self and your body.
I’d love to hear about your experiences with these exercises and the growth that you’ve experienced over the past 31 days, so feel free to leave a comment below. Stay tuned for my next post where I will be updating you on the growth that I’ve experienced in relation to my own weight loss and fitness goals.
