Love Yourself Thin - Day 3

Today’s exercise is to go to the mirror, look yourself in the eye, and tell yourself “I love you exactly as you are today no matter what you weigh or how you look.” Then, follow that statement with the affirmation you wrote yesterday. You’ll want to adjust your affirmation if you used the pronoun “I” and change that to “You”.

For example, if your affirmation yesterday was “I easily lose weight”, then while you look yourself in the eyes today tell yourself, “I love you exactly as you are today no matter what you weigh or how you look. You easily lose weight”. Repeat this to yourself 10 times and then write down any feelings or thoughts in your journal that came up during the exercise.

If you have been struggling with being overweight for years, it makes sense that you would have some thoughts like, “it’s not easy!”, or, “rubbish!”. Then again, you are unique and your thoughts and feelings that you get from doing this exercise are valid and your own. Whatever they are, write them down. This will help you become aware of unconscious thoughts and beliefs that have been sabotaging your weight loss actions.

You see, if you continually force yourself to diet and exercise but subconsciously you believe “weight loss is too hard, this will never work”, what do you think the outcome will be?

I’m doing these exercises right along with you, and all we need (besides the mirror and notebook ;) ) is the willingness to change and grow. Remember, if you are experiencing extreme resistance, keep repeating the affirmation “I am willing to change”, or, “I release the resistance to change”, but just keep on doing the exercises.

Feel free to leave a comment with any questions or share your experience. If you haven’t read the introduction to the Loving Yourself Thin series yet, you can find it here.
