Reader Feedback Request - Daily Motivation & Number of Daily Posts

Well, it’s now been over 6 months since I posted my first post here at The Fit Shack. Thank you to each of you for following along with me, and (I hope!) learning more about yourself in the process.

One of the main purposes for starting this site has been to pass on information to you that I have found helpful in my own quest for healthy living and weight loss, while also addressing that all-important side of yourself that cannot be ignored: your mind, your thoughts. After all, if you change your thoughts, you change your life. ;)

Shortly after beginning this blog, I began the Daily Motivation category. My goal was to post a daily motivational type of post 5 - 7 days a week, in addition to the 5 “regular” posts Monday - Friday. I wanted to keep the daily motivational posts on the shorter side since I’m not a two-line poster in general ;) , so that I wouldn’t overwhelm you with too much to read each day.

The way it’s turned out is that the daily motivation posts haven’t been two-liners, and while I do strongly believe in continuing to address the topic of motivation and the mind/body connection in my posts, what I want to know from you is, do you enjoy the daily motivation posts each day?

Over the past week or so, I haven’t posted a daily motivation every day to try and gauge whether or not this makes a difference in how many of you (rss subscribers) have been reading, and it seems that the numbers drop a bit, but this may be for other reasons (i.e.: last week of summer, and back to school time). So, the best thing to do is just ask you, because I want to provide quality, thought provoking content for you here that will help you make healthy changes in your life. If I’m just overwhelming you with too much to read in a day, then that’s not a good thing.

This also ties into to how I write, meaning that I write better when I am inspired. I get really geeked about the processed food topics I write about, but I also completely enjoy writing about how your mind controls so much of the outcome of your weight loss and weight management program. However, because I’m not so sure if you’re enjoying getting 2 full posts a day, I find that I’m losing a bit of inspiration for writing the daily motivation each day (or maybe I’m just not motivated  ) .

So, here’s what I’m asking:

  • Do you prefer getting 2 posts a day, or just 1?
  • If you do prefer 2 posts a day, does it matter the length of each? i.e.: if I continue the daily motivation, would you rather that these were a little shorter since my other posts tend to be more in depth?
  • Do you like to get the daily motivation posts each day, or would you rather read these types of posts once in awhile? If so, I would post once a day (M-F), and would write about motivation once in awhile in those posts.
  • Which category of posts from the list in the sidebar are your favorites? Additives, sweeteners, diet reviews, motivation, etc. Or, is there some other topic you would like to see more of that I don’t write about currently?

I sincerely want to help you by passing on what I’ve learned, what has worked (and not worked) for me, and the research that I dig up and write about. I will not abandon writing about motivation or the mind/body connection because it is a large component of any life change, including weight loss, however If you don’t have the time to read the amount that I write each day, then it’s not helping you. The goal is to help you, not overwhelm you. ;)

I will take all feedback into consideration. You can post your feedback in a comment, use my contact form, or vote in the poll that I have put up in the sidebar. Thanks in advance!

good idea to ask your readers.

5-7 posts a week work well for me. i don’t want to become overwhelmed. i nice mix of short (up to 150, 200 words) and longer (200-600 words) is best for me.

i want QUALITY, not quantity. actually, i’ve noticed lately that when i look at new blogs that have more than one post a day, i somehow lose interest. probably because of the overwhelm factor. i want a blog, not a newspaper.

    just my .02 cents worth.

    great blog you got there!
