Can’t Stop Eating Even Though You Want To?

Are you someone who really wants to lose weight, you’re unhappy being overweight, but you just can’t stop eating? Do you eat when you aren’t even hungry, all the time thinking, “why am I doing this”?

You don’t want to be overweight, you want to stop eating when you aren’t hungry, you want to stop binging and stuffing yourself, but you keep on doing it. What are you supposed to do, are you doomed to live the rest of your life like this??

I’ve been there myself, and let me tell you, I understand and I know that’s it’s just not fun. Of course you don’t want to gain more weight, but you have this uncontrollable urge to eat, eat, eat, and eat more! So what is the answer?

First of all, I don’t believe that dieting, restricting what you eat, and over-exercising is the answer. I do believe, though, that getting off of and staying away from certain substances is key. You might not want to believe it, but I “dare” you to try it yourself: eliminate the sugar, processed, fat-filled, and fast foods from your menu. Remove them completely, read your labels, eat whole, healthy, non-processed or minimally processed foods, and tell me after a week or two (or less) if you are still eating uncontrollably. I don’t think that you will be.

This is what I did with my experiment when I completely eliminated all refined sugar. After two or three days, I no longer had food cravings and I did not binge on any foods. Is this extreme, especially since I also eliminated salt, dairy, and flour? Maybe it is, but is it worth it? Yes! Besides the benefit of weight loss, there is no price that you can put on the peace in my life of being free from the food cravings and food addiction.

Is this easy to do? Yes and no. It’s not easy in the beginning because you do have to “force” yourself to avoid those foods that cause you to keep on eating. When you gain momentum after the first few days though, it becomes easier every day.

You do have to stay on top of your game though, because one slip up can put you back days, or even weeks. Once you get off of the sugar and all of those other addictive food substances, if you eat them again, you can get right back into the addiction. I have done this before and in my experience, it’s easy to put yourself back where you started.

If you truly want to move past the craziness of uncontrollable eating (binging), you can do it. You must be willing to give up any and all excuses though, and really go for it. Once you get on the other side and see what it’s like to live without the compulsive need to eat when you aren’t even hungry, you will (hopefully!) never want to go back to your old way of life. It’s just no fun to have that unwanted need to keep eating and stuffing yourself beyond the level of comfort, especially when you aren’t hungry to begin with.
