The Power of Perseverance in Weight Loss - Daily Motivation

Austere perseverance, harsh and continuous, may be employed by the smallest of us and rarely fails of its purpose, for its silent power grows irresistibly greater with time. - Goethe

Perseverance will get you where you want to go in life. In regards to weight loss, without perseverance you are just about doomed.

Why do I say this? Because no matter how motivated you are today, there will come those times when it will be so easy to give in to temptation. However, it is in those moments of temptation that you need to persevere the most.

If instead you give in to temptation, the next time it comes up it will be even easier to give in because you’ve done it before. The next thing you know, you will have given up on your weight loss plan altogether. This is especially likely to happen if you have food addictions, and the food you have been giving in to is what you are addicted to.

Even if you have given in, it will take perseverance to recommit to yourself and your goals. In my experience, I have found that it takes more work to recover from a slip as opposed to persevering and working to not give in to a slip in the first place. Whichever end you are on though, you can apply consistent perseverance, which will only end up benefiting you.

Continuous perseverance is exactly what you need to carry you through to your goal. Whether your goal is to lose 20 pounds or 120, or to maintain your current weight after working so hard to lose excess pounds, perseverance is the key. Commit to your goal, take the necessary action, and persevere no matter what.
